In the 1940's and 50's polio was very common and very dangerous.
In 1955 the Salk vaccine was invented. Today the polio disease is very rare and is very close to being gone. Infact Presidebt
Roosevelt had polio and was paralyzed from the waist down. In 1953 Dr. Salk made the Salk vaccine.
